Programme notes

Much of the material of Pantomime is derived from the music written for the Unicorn Children’s Theatre 1994/95 Christmas musical play Aladdin. The suite attempts in the composers words “to invoke the shadowy and half-forgotten world of smoky Music Halls, Vaudeville, Burlesque and their later, often televisual, incarnations”. It was written as a present for the Haffner Ensemble who gave the premiere at the Hove Town Hall in December 1995.

The Woodwind Orchestra version was created for an album of woodwind orchestra music in 2014. Details in the discography section.
