Excursion is defined in the dictionary as 1)A short journey made for pleasure, 2)A group taking a short pleasure trip together, and 3)In Physics, a movement from and back to a position or axis in an alternating motion. I wrote this piece for my high school woodwind ensemble to perform at our Spring Concert. There are several challenging parts, along with many opportunities to explore concepts of syncopation and listening in the ensemble, maintaining balance etc.
